Tips to feel less bloated

Bloating.... it happens to us all

Here are some top tips to help you fell less bloated

Firstly there are lots of potential reasons for bloating - Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS) or a food allergy are examples. But for ,any people bloating is a digestive issue, which can be improved with wise food and drink choices.

Also keep in mind our abdomens naturally bloat throughout the day due to eating and drinking; fuelling our bodies with energy and liquids for hydration.

PROBIOTICS

Probiotics such as live yoghurt, are great for the gut, but try to have foods with prebiotics too, like onions and garlic.

PEPPERMINT

Choose peppermint tea over coffee. Peppermint oil has a calming effect on the gut muscles and could ease bloating. Peppermint is soothing and calming.

Coffee dehydrates the body and so the body needs additional fluids.

WHOLE FOODS

Swap smoothies for whole foods where possible. If you suffer from constipation. which can cause discomfort and bloating, eating one or two KIWI fruits a day has been found to be effective in clinical trials to reduce bloating.

OATS

A weekend breakfast croissant is fine or a couple of biscuits with your tea. but try start your morning with OATS which have a great source of soluble fibre that may help regulate bowl movements. Add some MILLED FLAX or CHIA SEEDS and add extra NUTS for extra gut loving fibre.

Did you know......... it is not just what you eat that causes bloating other things to consider include;

Avoid wearing tight trousers or leggings, which can contribute to bloating

Chew your food properly before swallowing; remember digestion starts in the mouth

Eat more mindfully. Sit down, avoid phones or the tv and enjoy each mouthful slowly

Other foods to add in to your diet include;

Banana's

Blackberries

Raspberries

Apples

Salmon

Nuts

MOVEMENT

Another great tip is movement. Try to do a short low impact or high impact workout daily; this could be walking, yoga, Pilates, HIIT.... Moving your body is great for you, you feel energised, you have a surge of endorphins and movement helps with the flow of your body breaking down food better.

And don't forget aim to drink 2 - 3 lires of water every day. When our bodies are dehydrated and lack fluids our bodies can bloat. Always keep hydration levels up.

If you are experiencing persistent bloating, it is a good idea to visit your GP to rule out other possible contributing factors

I hope you find these top tips helpful and they help reduce your bloating.
